Obituary

David E. Moore, a proud veteran, and dedicated worker, passed away on June 23, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 22, 1938, in Hickman, Kentucky, to the late Fred H. Moore and Jettie Bernard Moore, David grew up in West Tennessee, a region he always called home. He proudly answered the call to serve his country as a member of the United States Air Force. On May 24, 1980, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Julian Moore, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned 46 wonderful years. David was a man of strong work ethic, working faithfully at Firestone until its closure, and later at Owens Corning in Memphis, where he remained until his well-earned retirement.

Following his retirement, David and Dorothy embraced a love for adventure, traveling all over the United States together. Among their many journeys, they traveled down the scenic West Coast from Oregon and made a special stop in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to attend the rodeo, which David absolutely loved. However, his absolute favorite trip of all was a breathtaking journey to Alaska. David was a devout member of the Old Friendship Baptist Church, and he cherished every moment spent surrounded by his family and close friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Jettie Moore; his sisters, Sallye Abel and Mildred Boswell; and his brothers, William Moore, Fred H. Moore, Henry Moore, Robert Moore, and Roy Moore.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Dorothy Moore; his brothers, Aubrey Moore of Soddy-Daisy, TN, John Moore and wife Shirley of Hixson, TN, and Jimmy Moore of Wolcott, CT; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
