DAVID AUSTIN

 Jackson, TN: David Glen Austin, age 63, passed away August 25, 2024, at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Jackson, TN April 10, 1961, son of the late W.C. and Mamie Mary Alexander Austin. He grew up in the Talley Town Community of Chester County and attended Chester County High School.

He married Anita Cothren Edwards on May 9, 1997.

David began operating heavy equipment by age 17 and eventually began his own business known as David’s Backhoe Service in 2000.

He loved the outdoors, gardening, farming, and always tinkering on pieces of equipment. He loved music, especially rock, classic rock, and country. David was a pet lover and raised chickens and always kept a dog. He leaves behind his blue healer, Rex.

David was a member of Mason Wells Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Austin of Jackson, TN; two sons, Justin Austin (Jamie) of Jackson and Keith Edwards of Creve Coeur, IL; daughter, Jayme Schurman of Enville, TN; two brothers, Vernon Austin (Betty) of Oswego, IL and Ray Austin (Wanda) of Beech Bluff; two sisters, Linda King (John) of Atoka, TN and Ruby Jeter (Perry) of Jackson; three grandchildren, Seth and Makayla Edwards and Avery Austin; as well as close nephew, Chris Cummings of Pinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Edwards; brother, H.C. Cummings and sister, Betty Plunk.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024 at Mason Wells Baptist Church, 825 Rocky Springs Road, Beech Bluff, TN 38313.
