David Harold Hollis, beloved resident of Iron City, TN, passed on March 31, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on April 12, 1944, in Florence, AL, the son of the late Clifford Nicholson and Macie Bell Daughtery Hollis.

In December 1962, David joined in marriage with Joanna Merle Almon, sharing a life filled with love and devotion until her passing in April 2004. Together, they built a legacy rooted in family and hard work.

David was a dedicated businessman alongside his father as they operated Hollis Roofing Company. Beyond their business endeavors, David also managed chicken houses and cared for cattle on his farm, embracing the fullness of rural life. A true outdoorsman at heart, he found joy in deer hunting and eagerly looked forward to his weekly trips to the sale barn each Monday. His passion for Alabama Football was well known, reflecting his deep connection to his roots.

More than anything, David was a devoted family man. He treasured every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always making it a point to support their sporting events and share in their joys. His unwavering love and presence created a bond that will forever be remembered.

David’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and steadfast commitment to those he held dear. 

He is survived by his son, Jody Hollis (Angie) of Iron City, TN; daughters, Deanna Mussleman (Matt) of Iron City, TN, and Deborah Ragan (Bill) of Florence, AL; grandchildren, Alex Mussleman (Cassidy), Nick Hollis, Will Ragan (Misty), Macie Mussleman (Anthony), Ben Ragan (Michaela), and Sam Ragan; great grandchildren, Molly Blaire, Sawyer, and Foster Mussleman, Cole, Liam, and Hudson Ragan, and Addie Ragan; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Hollis; and sister, Marjorie Hewlett.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN with Larry Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollis Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
