DAVID MORRIS

Henderson, TN: David Stuart Morris, age 60 passed away March 2, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born in Henderson, TN September 4, 1962, the son of Wanda Glen Matlock Dotson and the late Charles Glen Morris. He grew up in Henderson and was a 1981 graduate of Chester Co. High School.

He married his high school sweetheart Nancy Owens on August 14, 1981, and they made their home in Henderson.

He worked for several years as a carpenter, then joined the TN National Guard in 1984 and served for nine years. He then went to Bruce Lumber Co. in Jackson and worked seven years.

He then worked for Lyondellbasell Manufacturing in Jackson where he worked for over 20 years retiring in 2015.

David was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and loved his church, community, and helped anyone he could.

Above all things he loved his family and was a faithful husband, father, and grandfather. He also loved his pets and treated them with love like children. He leaves behind his two dogs Lulu and Leo, and two grand dogs Yadi and Toe Joe.

He also enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, woodworking, and doing yard work. He also loved to eat and enjoyed having his family over for meals.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Morris; mother, Wanda Dotson and stepdad, Carl Dotson of Jackson, TN; son, Stephen Morris (Rachel) of Pinson, TN; two daughters, Stephanie Morris (Carl) of Henderson, TN and McKinnley Tignor (Cody) or Luray, TN; two brothers, Greg Morris (Karen) of Jackson, TN and Donald Morris (Phyllis) of Lexington, TN; sister, Stacey Davis of Henderson, TN; and two grandchildren, Caleb “Toot” Tignor and Jacob Vest.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Morris.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday March 6, 2023, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Glenn Harris officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday.
