DAVID T. ROSS
Henderson, TN: David Tucker Ross age 88 passed away February 10, 2018 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born October 28, 1929 in McNairy County, in the Logan Lake Community, the son of the late James Albert and Vena Davidson Ross. He went to elementary school at Bethel Springs and graduated from Chester County High School in 1947. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in Korea as a Platoon Sergeant for two years. He married Willie Mae Johnson in October 1952. They made their home in the Harmony Community all their married life. He worked at Bemis Cotton Mill for thirty-two years retiring in 1984.
Mr. Ross started a milk route at the age of nineteen and also farmed, raising hogs, cows, corn and hay all his life.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross were both very involved in the Estes Church of Christ with Mr. Ross serving as a deacon and chairman of the cemetery committee for many years.
Mrs. Ross preceded in death in 2009.
Mr. Ross is survived by a daughter, Melissa Ross of Jackson and a son, David Keith Ross of Henderson; one grandson, Henry Ross Kilpatrick of Clarksville and a brother Roy Ross (Sue) of Peoria, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Willie Mae Johnson Ross and a brother, Martin Ross.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, at Estes Church of Christ with Roy Sharp and Henry Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday and beginning at 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Thursday at the church.
