David E. Tolbert

Bethel Springs, TN: David Earl Tolbert age 93, passed away Saturday November 07, 2009 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in Covington, Tennessee and grew up in Dyersburg, son of the late Robert Lucian and Meda Archer Tolbert. He attended school in Dyer County and moved to Memphis at the age of 19 were he was employed as a plumber and in 1944 was employed by Firestone & Rubber Company as a Refrigeration and Steam Engineer. He was married to Nelda Ruth Rowland in 1963. He retired after 37 1/2 years and in 1981 moved to the Woodville area of McNairy County, where they made their home.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years; Nelda Ruth Rowland Tolbert, a son, Melvin Earl Tolbert of Fairfield, MS; a daughter, Shirley Jean Ford of Tallahassee, FL; one stepson, Allen Lynn Holder of Jemez Springs, NM; one half brother, George Harold Baker and one half sister, JoAnn Jones both of Dennison TX; Five grandchildren and three step grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Danny Earl Ford in 2001.
