David Alan Weatherford, age 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A lifelong resident of Selmer, Tennessee, David was born on December 11, 1953, in Indiana to Eldridge Beckham Weatherford and Mabel Tacker Weatherford. He possessed an incredible work ethic, successfully owning and operating Weatherford Trucking while later dedicating his time to the land as a farmer for Midsouth Family Farms. When he wasn't working, David loved to unwind by watching TV, rarely missing a NASCAR race. He also found great joy watching the Food Network, constantly perfecting his skills until his family proudly crowned him the ultimate "grillmaster," claiming he was the absolute best in the world. Above all, David cherished the quiet moments spent at home with his family and his faithful dog, Jill. He was a member of Chewalla Baptist Church.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Mabel Weatherford; his stepson, Jesse Mitchell; and his brothers, James Weatherford and Tim Weatherford. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Pam Mitchell Weatherford of Selmer, TN; his children, Jessica Mahaffey and her husband Blaine, Emily Plunk and her husband Adam, Carrie Sanders and her husband Ben, and Taylor Weatherford and his wife Lilee; and his sisters-in-law, Sherrye Williams and Sandra Inman. He also leaves behind his seven treasured grandchildren: Gavin Plunk, Ace Mahaffey, Ryder Plunk, Edee Plunk, Maggie Sanders, Benji Sanders, and Felicity Weatherford. David’s warmth, his legendary cookouts, and his steadfast love for his family leave behind a beautiful legacy that will never be forgotten.
