Mr. David George Young, age 31 of Bolivar, Tennessee, passed from this life Monday, February 2, 2015 at Bolivar General Hospital.
David was born Saturday, June 4, 1983 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the third child of Steve and Connie Young of Middleburg. David weight 8 lbs and 9 oz and was a joy to his parents' life from beginning to end.
He attended Bolivar Elementary, and Bolivar Central High Schools, graduating in 2001. David was involved in many clubs and organizations and loved playing sports. Football and baseball were the highlights of his school years. As a young boy, he always entered the Punt, Pass and Kick competition and would win the longest punt. After High School, David's favorite sport was golf. He would always enjoy the competition between him and his Dad. He also loved to play golf with his friends, and brother and sister.
After David graduated high school, he attended Jackson State Community College for one year and then transferred to Middle Tennessee State University, where he graduated May 5, 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Finance. David was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He then attended Freed-Hardeman University, where he received his teaching certificate. In 2009, David began teaching personal computer classes and ISS. This year, David was teaching Finance and loved it. He loved his students very much, and would talk to and encourage them. David would often come home smiling and laughing about some of the things that would happen in his classroom.
In his short life, David experienced many wonderful things. He was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church and the Kingdom of God, because at the age of 9, he accepted Jesus as his Savior. He went on 2 WHEW mission trips to Quito, Ecuador, where he did personal witnessing and carnivals with children.
David loved his nieces and nephews so much. He would always take the time to play with them and worry them, too. Pranks and scaring people was something he never tired of. He was always up to some kind of mischief. David also loved spending time with his friends, and his best friend of all was his English bulldog, Bojangles.
David's last accomplishment was becoming a Hardeman County Commissioner, taking over his father Steve Young's position after his death on April 7, 2014.
David never got to finish that position, because God needed him more in Heaven.
He leaves as his survivors his mother, Connie Young of Bolivar; sister, Mary Elizabeth Anderson and husband Franklin of Bolivar; brother, Joseph Keith Young and wife Debbie of Selmer; nieces and nephews, Olivia Young, Samuel Young, Lily Anne Young, Wyatt Eugene Anderson, Abram Lee Anderson, and Adeline Sue Anderson.
Charitable contributions made in David's memory may be sent to the Steve Young Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Middleburg Baptist Church c/o Terry Lax, 330 Enon Lane, Bolivar, Tennessee 38008.
After the funeral services, a private family burial will take place at Middleburg Cemetery.
