Dawn Connell, age 49, of Somerville, departed this life Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis.
The wife of Wayne Connell, who survives, she was a homemaker and worked as a waitress for 35 years. She was born July 11, 1967 in Millington, the daughter of David Dale Dever and Nancy Louise Dever, both of North Carolina, and lived in Shelby County until 1990, when she moved to Fayette County. She enjoyed cooking, listening to gospel and country music, and working in her garden. She received her greatest fulfillment from taking care of her family. She was well known for her good sense of humor and was always playing jokes on everyone. Mrs. Connell was a Baptist in faith.
In addition to her husband, whom she married on December 14, 1990, and her parents, survivors include a son, Joseph Lee Connell of Somerville; three sisters, Darlene Dianaty, Deborah Redding and Deloris Dever, all of North Carolina; a niece, Christina Slocumb of Louisiana and a nephew, David Dever of Millington. The family requests memorial donations in her name be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
