Delaine "Woodie" Hackney

Delaine "Woodie" Hackney, 79, of Hornsby, passed from this life Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Christian Care Center in Bolivar.
She was born July 26, 1943 in Hardeman County, the daughter of the late William Elwood and Lillie Ruth Chandler Hatch, spending most all of her life here. She was the wife of Mr. John L. Hackney whom she married on December 21, 1963.
Mrs. Hackney was a teacher's aid, cook and member of the PTA for Hornsby Elementary School and an active member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday School Teacher. In her early life, she was an avid gardener. She enjoyed cooking, canning and sending notes of encouragement to those who were sick or grieving.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, she leaves two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Hackney of Jackson, TN and Janice Hackney Johnson (Alex) of Huntsville, AL; two grandchildren, Ross Brooks Johnson of Nashville and Anna Grace Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; a sister, Lillian Hatch Abel of Bolivar; and a brother, William Beryl Hatch (Becky) of Jackson.
