Mr. Stewart passed away Thursday night at McNairy County Health Care in Selmer.
The husband of Peggy Stewart, who survives, he retired as a supervisor at Harmon International, having worked for 33 years, never missing a day of work, and also was a cattle farmer. Mr. Stewart was born March 19, 1931 in Middleton to the late Will Dewey Stewart and Hattie Athalia McBride Stewart and lived all of his life in Middleton. He served his country in the US Army in Korea and was a member of Middleton First Baptist Church. Mr. Stewart enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, gardening and was an avid outdoorsman.
In addition to his wife, whom he married September 18, 1955, he is survived by two daughters, Debbie Stewart and Lisa (Roy) Koimn, both of Middleton; a son, David (Jan) Stewart of Middleton; seven sisters, Verlon Baker of Hornsby, Dorothy Williams of Bolivar, Mackye Hosse of Arlington, Faye Gullett of Memphis, Jeanette Harrell of Walnut, MS, Mary Elizabeth Vincent of Saulsbury and Brenda James of Baldwyn, MS; a brother, J.D. Stewart of Middleton; and three grandchildren, Jessica Stewart and Will and Wesley Koimn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Franklin Stewart, who died November 12, 2010; and three sisters, Glenda Young, Christine Stewart and Vivian Geer.
