Delois Delphine Shands

•Delois Delphine (Throgmorton) Shands, age 80, died at Wayne County Hospital in Waynesboro, TN on Saturday, June 4, 2011. She was born August 27, 1930, in Columbia, TN to the late John Thomas and Tessa Corrinne (Gallaher) Throgmorton. She grew up in Waynesboro and graduated from Wayne County High School in 1948. Delphine worked as a piano teacher in her home and at the Lutts and Collinwood schools. On December 30, 1950, she married Earl Shands of Lawrence County, TN. They made their home in Waynesboro, but lived also in Cookeville, Tullahoma, Savannah, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Gadsden, AL and Florence, AL. She retired in 1968 when they moved to Columbia. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Shands of Cookeville, TN, her son and his wife, Joseph E, Shands and Lynne of Hartselle, AL; her daughter Olivia Shands Cothron and her husband Ritter of Columbia, TN; her daughter Angela Shands Berry of Lawrenceburg, TN; thirteen grandchildren, Andrea Jones Seiner of Sparta, TN, David Jones of Memphis, TN, Daron Jones Lawson of Canton, GA, Shannon Jones Draughn of St. Mary’s, GA, Natalie Shands Richards of Hartselle, AL, Jason Shands of Huntsville, AL, J. Perry Shands of Hartselle, AL, Corrinne Cothron Reed of Ashland City, TN, Cameron Cothron of Lynnville, TN, Leah Estes of Bangor, ME, Clint Hunt of Waynesboro, TN, Brennon Littrell of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Brenlee Berry of Waynesboro, TN and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Delphine Shands will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Shackleford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, TN with Reverend Wade West officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro on Monday evening June 6, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m...and Tuesday from 8:00 AM until service time.
