Obituary

Denise Ann Murphy, age 70, passed away on June 3, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland, surrounded by memories of a beautiful life. Born on May 11, 1956, in Baltimore to Anthony M. Durdock and Dolores A. Bottari Durdock, Denise was a woman of dedication, humor, and immense love for her family. On November 21, 1975, she married her beloved husband, Jack Murphy. Together, they shared a vibrant journey that took them to several locations across the country, including Jacksonville, North Carolina; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Memphis, Tennessee, before they eventually settled down in Eastview, Tennessee. Throughout her career, Denise worked hard in various manufacturing roles, but her most impactful years were spent serving others as a Direct Support Person for the McNairy County Developmental Center, where her compassion touched many lives.

Denise possessed a feisty spirit and a quick wit. While she loved to spend her time gardening, her husband Jack fondly joked that her actual full-time job was keeping him in line, acting right, and ensuring he always knew what to do. Her passion for life truly shone during the holidays, Denise adored Christmas time. Her family lovingly recalls her going completely overboard with festive cheer, including legendary shopping trips to Hobby Lobby where she would happily spend thousands of dollars to transform her home into a Christmas wonderland. Above all else, her grandchildren were the absolute joy of her life. Denise also held a deep affection for her dog, Coco, who preceded her in death, despite Jack’s playful recollection that the dog didn't like him very much and earned the nickname "Cuckoo."

Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Dolores Durdock; her brother, Anthony F. Durdock; and her beloved daughter, Tina Nicole Murphy. Her legacy of love and laughter will be forever cherished by her husband, Jack Murphy of Ramer, TN; her daughters, Dawn Brooks of Selmer, TN, and Stephanie Parsons of Corinth, MS; her sister, Diane McDermott of Dundalk, MD; and her nephews, Anthony Ellers, Michael Durdock, and Matthew Durdock. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Corey Brooks of Selmer, TN, Nicole Gage Brooks of Lexington, TN, Zayden Settle of Selmer, TN, and Stella Parsons of Corinth, MS, who will miss their grandmother's warmth, holiday magic, and bright spirit deeply.
