Beech Bluff, TN: Dennis Hall Latham, Jr., age 75, passed away December 17, 2009 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Latham was born and reared in Chester County, the New Friendship Community, the son of the late Dennis Hall Latham, Sr. and Vivian Wall Latham. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1952 and attended West Tennessee Business College. He married Joyce Stanfill in 1960. They made their home in the New Friendship Community where he dairy farmed with his father. Mrs. Latham preceded in death in 1974. He was married to Donna Ellington in 1979. He had farmed all of his life and was co-owner of Latham Brothers Dairy.
He had served on the Soil Conservation Board of Directors for 30 years. He was an advocate of being a good steward of the land and always practiced soil conservation measures in his farming.
He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and had served the church in various roles throughout the years. He also served on the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Committee for many years. He had served six years in the Tennessee National Guard.
He is survived by his wife Donna Ellington Latham of Beech Bluff; a son, Dennis Latham, III of Beech Bluff; two daughters, Susan Latham Davidson of Jackson and Celeste Latham McPeake (Wes) of Henderson; one brother, Bobby Latham (Joyce) of Beech Bluff; three sisters, Elaine Smith (Bobby) of Beech Bluff, Emily Shore (Roger) of Dyersburg and Judy Latham of Wilmington, NC.
