Henderson, TN: Denny Shane Clayton, age 50, passed away Wednesday February 1, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Denny Shane Clayton was born March 24, 1972. Son of Dinnos and Erma Dean Clayton. Denny was raised in the Hickory Corner Community with many relatives and friends.
He graduated Chester County High School in 1990. Denny married his high school sweetheart, Maria Holmes, March 21, 1992. Maria and Denny had three children Dara Young (Will), Logan Clayton, and Ben Clayton. Denny loved and was so proud of his children, but the apples of his eye were his grandchildren, Brynli who he called “Tater” and Owen who he called “Tot”. He would gladly tell you all about them.
Denny was proud of his son, Logan, and what a great reunion they had in Heaven this past week.
Denny was a very accomplished construction worker. If you knew him, you knew he was meticulous making sure everything was level and square. After graduation, he worked for Davey Clayton hanging dry wall until 2000. He then worked in construction with his Daddy until 2008. From 2008-2011, he was self-employed. In 2011, he joined E&T construction and continued with them until 2020. In 2020, he returned to being self employed until the time of his death.
Anyone who knew Denny knew he loved his family and friends. He also had a deep love for music.
Denny is survived by his wife, Maria Clayton; son, Benjamin Clayton; daughter, Dara Young (Will); and sisters, Angie Clayton, and Debbie Clayton both of Bethel Springs; sister-in-law, Vera Reed (Steven); brother-in-law, Donald Holmes, Jr. (Linda); nephews, Brandon Holmes (Lauren) and Andrew Wolter; nieces, Haley Holmes (Chris), Abby Wolter and Erin Greene; a great niece, Elena Greene and great nephew, Braeden Greene.
Denny was preceded in death by his son, Logan Clayton, and his mother, Erma Dean Clayton.
Denny was a special son to his late mother and father-in-law, Donald and Delilah Holmes.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday February 11, 2023, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Brad McDaniel, Donnie Holmes, Charles McNatt, and Edward Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Chester County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday and 12:00 until 2:00 PM service time Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Holmes, Brian Clayton, Jonathan Clayton, Chris Holmes, Stacy Clayton, Jeff Clayton, Jon Finley, Greg Gage, Ken Durbin, Mike Melton, Mike Porter, Andrew Blackford, Brandon Cooper, Kevin “Buzz” Buswell, Mike Webster, Hunter Doles, Bobby Henson, Tyler Meek, Mark Clayton, Matthew Pickle and John Pickle.
