DEWEY YOUNG

Henderson, TN: Dewey Franklin Young, age 81, passed away August 6, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born October 25, 1944, in Toone, TN, the son of the late Statler and Mary Cupples Young. He grew up in Toone, TN in Hardeman County and attended Bolivar High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and served four years.

He was a heavy equipment operator for APAC for thirty years and worked for Chester County Waste Management before his health declined. He also farmed and drove farm equipment for Albert Keller in Toone for over ten years.

He married Pamela Finch in July of 1999, and they made their home in Hardeman County before moving to Henderson in 2004.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He was a member of the Toone Baptist Church.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Pamela Finch Young; a son, Michael Young (Diana) of Silerton, TN; a stepdaughter, Sparkie Avent of Henderson; an adopted son Billy Ervin; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Crawford of Bolivar, Sue Thearp of Bolivar and Lois Hyman of Pickwick, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Tracy Grantham, three brothers, Howard A. Young, Carey Young and Harold Young and four sisters, Mary Helen Wiggins, Faye Hezeau, Martha Knight and Beatrice Young.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue. Burial will follow at Browns Church Cemetery, Jackson, TN.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue, 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM service time Monday.
