Dewitt Franklin

Enville, TN: Dewitt Talmadge Franklin, Jr. age 84 passed away October 25, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital – Bartlett.



He was born and reared in Raines, TN the son of the late Dewitt Talmadge Franklin, Sr. and Lillie Guyer Franklin. He went to school in Whitehaven in Shelby County. He joined the U.S. Army in 1945 and was stationed in Yokohama, Japan and returned home in 1946. In 1948 he began working with International Harvester for 33 years retiring in 1981. He married Helen June Tucker in 1950. They moved to the Enville Community in 1981 after his retirement. He was a member of the Enville Baptist Church for 30 years and was a Deacon.



He loved to play the guitar, Nascar races, and baseball (Braves fan) and loved old cars. The lord and his church was his favorite pastime.



He is survived by his wife, June Tucker Franklin of Enville; a son, Dale Franklin and wife Donna of Cordova and a daughter, Debbie Warf and husband James of Cordova; three sisters, Hazel Cranshaw of Selmer, Betty Stanford of GA and Marie Carson of Memphis and four grandchildren, Blake Franklin (Jenny), Amanda Franklin, Rachel Warf and Rebekah Warf.
