It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Diona May Rodgers Miller, aged 80, of Cherokee, AL, who left us on October 12, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1945, in Toledo, OH, May was the cherished daughter of the late Benny Arthur and Neva Mae Poffenbaugh Rodgers.
May was a woman of many passions and loves. Her joy in cooking brought warmth to family gatherings, while her love for puzzles showcased her sharp mind and playful spirit. She found particular joy during the festive seasons of Christmas and Easter, celebrating with her loved ones and creating lasting memories.
Music played a significant role in May's life; she delighted in the soothing sounds of gospel and old country tunes. Her heart truly blossomed when surrounded by family, especially her great-great-great nephew, Lucas, whose laughter and companionship filled her with happiness. May enjoyed the special moments with her great niece, Tiffany, who would paint her nails, do her makeup, and share in the fun of trying on wigs. Each visit with her great niece Becky, along with Cory and Tiffany, was a treasure for May; she often found it hard to say goodbye when the time came to leave their company.
Diona May Rodgers Miller will be remembered not only for her love of family and music but also for her vibrant spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a reminder to cherish the simple joys in life. She will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Miller; niece, Lori Powell; and grandchild, William Jernigan.
In addition to her parents, May was preceded in death by her siblings, Joyce Hollis, Suzanne Smotherman, Johnny Rodgers, and Calvin Rodgers.
