Dolores (Dee) Elise Lowery Rich, 84, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 29.
Dee was born on March 17, 1941 in Collinwood, Tennessee to James and Dorothy Lowery and was married to Norman Lee Rich, also of Collinwood on May 4, 1962. Many of Dee’s favorite memories involve her years serving as a military wife to Norman who retired from the Navy in 1976. From Guam to Barbados to Newfoundland, and all the states in between, she always found a church family and a group of people to love and care for. Many of the relationships they started so long ago are active to this day, because if Dee loved you, it was forever. Sometime in the middle of military life she found time to become a Nurse and loved that she could use her servant’s heart as a career. Her favorite time of nursing was when she worked in Labor and Delivery at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital and was able to be the nurse for the birth of each of her grandchildren. Her faith and family defined her and she never missed an opportunity to share her love for the Lord and to brag on her grandchildren.
Dee enjoyed the many Sunday School classes she taught and all the fellowships she hosted in the basement of their home. She was never shy about sharing the gospel, visiting the sick and sad, and opening her home to anyone who needed a place to lay their head or play some cards.
Dee is survived by her husband of 63 years Norman, daughter Amy, grandchildren Hamilton, Cassidy (Benji), Kennedy (Sam), Marshall (Rylee), great granddaughter Parker Praise, brothers David Lowery (Sandra) and Mark Lowery (Janet) and a long list of extended family. She is preceded in death by her son Kent Shane, great grandson Silas Benjamin, parents, James and Dorothy Lowery, brothers Mickey Lowery and Patrick Lowery, and another long list of extended family.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 4 at Redemption of the Shoals Church in Muscle Shoals at 11:30am. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am. A short burial service will then take place at Wayne County Memory Gardens (Shackelford) in Collinwood, Tennessee at 2:00pm.
