DONALD RAY BURNS
Whiteville, TN: Donald Ray Burns age 72 passed away January 7, 2014 at his home.
He was born November 6, 1941 in Hammond, Indiana the son of the late Claude and Juanita Gammie Burns. He attended school in Dyer. He entered the Navy in 1959. He was married to May Dean Roe in 1963. They moved to Memphis in 1964 and in 1966 he went to work for J. & L. Steel Company in Memphis retiring after twenty seven years. He later worked in the produce dept. at Wal-Mart in Bolivar. Mr. Burns was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville.
Mr. Burns is survived by two daughters, Marvina Saylors and husband Larry of Arlington, TN and Lee Ann Brown and husband Michael of Mason, TN: 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and three brothers, Eddie Burns of Valparaiso, IN, David Burns of Marion, IL and Bob Burns of Crown Point, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, May Dean Burns in 2010.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Pastor Bro. Billy Adair officiating and burial will follow in Roby Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel 11:00 AM Thursday until 1:00 PM Service time.
