Donald McArthur

Donald McArthur, born June 4, 1970, in Berwyn, Illinois, passed away on August 10, 2026, in Denison, Texas. His loss is keenly felt by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Donald’s life was one defined by resilience, warmth, and dedication. He was raised in a loving family, guided by his mother, Joyce Vanderhei, and his father, William Vanderhei, who preceded him in death. Donald’s upbringing instilled in him strong values, a steadfast faith as a Baptist, and a belief in God that anchored him throughout his life.

He found his calling as an electrician, a career to which he devoted himself with passion and skill until medical circumstances necessitated his transition to disability five years ago. Though this change was challenging, Donald’s spirit remained undimmed. He embraced life with an outgoing nature and continued to make cherished memories with those he held dear.

Donald was a man who treasured his family above all else. He is survived by his devoted mother, Joyce Vanderhei, and his beloved children: Dustie McArthur, Dakota McArthur, Sabrina McArthur, Emma McArthur, and Donald McArthur, Jr. His siblings—Jackie Mills, Ginger Rocks, and Sandy Jones—remember him not only as a brother but as a steadfast friend whose kindness and humor brightened their days.

He is also remembered fondly by those who have gone before him, including his father, Bernice Clyde McArthur. Their memory, together with Donald’s, continues to inspire those who loved them.

Donald’s zest for life was evident in all he did. He was happiest in the company of his family, cherishing evenings spent together, watching television, and sharing laughter and stories. He loved to travel and valued the joy found in new places and memorable experiences. Known for his affinity for animals and his outgoing personality, he had a talent for lifting spirits and making friends wherever he went. His commitment to his work and his loved ones was unwavering, and he will be remembered for his sincerity, generosity, and loving heart.

Family and friends are invited to honor Donald’s memory at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Bolivar, located at 109 Mecklinburg Drive, Bolivar, TN 38008. Visitation will be held on August 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Perry Cemetery, 4040 Laconia Rd, Somerville, TN 38068.

Donald McArthur’s legacy endures in the lives he touched, the lessons he imparted, and the love he so freely gave.
