Donald 'Don' Mitchell

DON MITCHELL
Bethel Springs, TN: Donald Lee Mitchell (Don) died in his home surrounded by family at the age of 79 on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Mr. Mitchell was diagnosed with advanced multiple myeloma on January 29, 2019.
He was born August 14, 1939 in Finger, TN the son of the late James Ovid and Mary Lou Naylor Mitchell.
He married Wanda Smith on March 4, 1967. They lived in McNairy county all of their married life. He was a trader and a Flea Marketer in Crump, TN for thirty years. This fit his personality well because he was a people person. He was the “Tool Man” and “Junk Man” to many people.
He was a good husband who loved his family and always wanted to give you something.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Wanda (Smith) Mitchell; five children: Darrell Mitchell of Selmer, Damon Mitchell of Boca Raton, FL, Kim Reeder and husband, Jason Reeder, Wendy Hicks and husband, Rusty Hicks, both of Selmer, and James Mitchell and wife, Jessica Mitchell of Florence, AL; seven grandchildren: Justice Reeder, Eve Stone and her husband, Michael Stone, Noah Hicks, Bree Mitchell, Aidan Mitchell, Luke Mitchell, and Levi Mitchell; and three siblings: Nola Jean Baker of Beech Bluff, Bill Mitchell and wife, Helen Mitchell, of Henderson, and Scotty Mitchell and wife, Beth Mitchell, of Jackson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother James Mitchell, a granddaughter, Alexandra Katherine Reeder, a brother-in-law, Ray Allen Baker.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Daniel Meinsen and Earl Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Finger Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
