Donald Dean Mullins

Donald Dean Mullins was born September 3, 1939 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late George and Dessie Dixon Mullins.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Louise Smith on November 29, 1957.

Mr. Mullins installed fiber optic cable for Coastal Plains and Manuel Brothers Construction Companies for 40 years, during which time he had the distinction of laying the first fiber optic cable for AT&T. His work took him to locations all over the United States and Canada. After retiring from telecommunications construction, Mr. Mullins returned to McNairy County and began working for the Eastview Water Department, where he spent the last 18 years. Raising livestock and farming were two of his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed watching old westerns and spending cold winter days in his shop sitting by his Ashley heater. Mr. Mullins was a good dancer, a handyman who could fix anything, and never met a stranger. He was generous with his time and resources and would help anyone he could. Mr. Mullins was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Shriners International and the Ramer Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Mullins departed this life on May 16, 2020 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 80 Years, 8 Months, 12 Days. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Louise (Smith) Mullins of Ramer, TN; a son, Jeffery Mullins and wife Penny of Middleburg, FL; three grandchildren: Kimberly Blakely Smith, Stacy Warner, and Brian Mullins and wife Carrie; six great-grandchildren: Marlee Smith, Kinlee Smith, Jacob Warner, Samantha Warner, Kaylah Williams, and Savannah Combs; a great-great-grandchild, Kendall Williams; three sisters: Elizabeth Durbin and husband Junior of Gravel Hill, TN, Juanita Johnson of Guys, TN, and Nettie White of Memphis, TN; a brother, Arnold Mullins of Guys, TN; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mullins was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Mullins; two sisters, Helen Mabry and Tish Farris; and two brothers, Hilbern Mullins and Ronald Mullins.
