Donald L. Peterson

Donald Lamar Peterson, 85, of Whiteville, TN, passed away on August 2, 2026 surrounded by family. Born to Lamar and Tommy Lou Peterson on December 25, 1940. He graduated from Fayette County High School. Mr. Peterson joined the National Guard and worked for Sears Roebuck Company until his retirement. Donald enjoyed farming, gardening and spending time at the Hatchie River. Other past time favorites included listening to gospel and bluegrass music, reading, watching Westerns and reading his Bible (which he read through completion multiple times). He looked forward to regular visits from close friends.

Donald is survived by his five children; Tara Polston (Jerry Hewlett) of Rossville, Ronda Hobbs (Chris) of Bartlett, Joel Peterson (Cindy) of Heber Springs, AR, Sasha Peterson (Scott Stroud) of Collierville, Justin Peterson (Shalane Coleman) of Whiteville. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Grayson Hobbs, Evan Hobbs and Kelsey Peterson. He also leaves two brothers; Larry Peterson of Vildo and Jerry Peterson of Williston.

Services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Midway Baptist Church on Hwy 179 in Whiteville, TN. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 pm and services will be at 2:00 pm with Bro. David Reeves officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude (Memphis, TN) or Midway Baptist Church (Whiteville, TN).
