Henderson, TN: Donie Elvie Forman Mathews age 94, passed away January 3, 2016 at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born September 6, 1921 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi the daughter of the late Jim and Alma Graham Forman. She married William H. Mathews in 1938. They lived in Pontotoc and then in Memphis where Mr. Mathews worked at General Electric. He died in 1994. Mrs. Mathews moved to Bethel Springs in 1999.
Mrs. Mathews loved to sew, crochet and do embroidering and was very talented with her hands. She was a member of the Mitchell’s Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Jo Stidham of Bethel Springs, TN and a son, William Berl Mathews of Bartlett, TN; two grandchildren, Wendy Siler and Christy Mathews and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, William Berl Mathews, Jr.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Glenn Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Woodhaven Cemetery in Memphis at 2:00 PM Wednesday.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Wednesday.
