DONNA “DEE” HERNDON

Donna Marie Herndon, age 69, passed away Friday October 10, 2025, at Selmer Post Acute Care.

She was born in Fort Worth, TX May 25, 1956, daughter of the late Sammy Leon Mullins, Sr. and Helen Ruth Gray Mullins. She grew up in Jackson and was a graduate of Southside High School.

Dee married Ronnie Capooth on October 31, 1975, and they raised two children. She later married Keith Herndon in 1993.

She was a caregiver at Southern Oaks Assisted Living in Henderson, retiring in 2018 after 15 years. She continued to serve as a personal caregiver for others since that time.

She enjoyed watching soap operas, going to Catfish Cabin, and Coca Cola.

Dee loved her family dearly and loved her cats as well.

She is survived by a daughter, Elena Eskew (fiance, Aaron Scoggins) of Finger; six grandchildren, Tristian, Elijah, Marcus, Alondra and Sarah Eskew and Ele Moore; three great grandchildren, Kayanna, Kailani, and Patience Eskew and one on the way, Isaiah Eskew; and a sister, Linda Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Joey Capooth.

A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, October 28th at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Crook Avenue Chapel, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
