Donna Chandler Scobey, 76, of Friendship, TN, departed this life Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at her home in Friendship, TN. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, September 18, 2026, at Silerton Baptist Church Cemetery in Silerton, TN. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, September 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar, TN.
Donna Elise Chandler Scobey was born Saturday, December 24, 1949, to the late Joseph William Chandler and Sarah Tull Chandler in Jackson, TN. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1967. Donna married James “Mack” Scobey on Friday, February 16, 1979. She worked as a factory worker for multiple companies including Harmon, Inc., Springer Garments, and Siegel-Robert until retiring in 2015. She was a member at Silerton Baptist Church in Silerton, TN. Mrs. Scobey enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, and she was an animal lover with a strong affection for pigs. Donna lived in Bolivar most of her life until moving to Ripley and Friendship in her later years.
She is survived by her daughter, Tilly Barnett of Friendship, TN; her son, Woody Compton of Crawford, TX; her sisters, Judy Dillard (James) and Carolyn Vales Kramer (Bob), both of Bolivar, TN; her grandchildren, John Stearns, Samantha Daily, Lily Barnett, Colton Compton, and Kelsey Ewing; her nephews, Jeff Vales and Jason Vales; a niece, Debbie Dillard; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James “Mack” Scobey; two brothers-in-law, James Dillard and Danny Vales; and a nephew, Bill Dillard.
