Dora Elizabeth McCormick

November 15, 1921 — February 27, 2011

Dora Elizabeth Black McCormick was born November 15, 1921 in Saulsbury, Tennessee the daughter of the late Wilcie Wilbert Black and Lillie Ann Anderson Black. She was united in marriage to Rex Leon McCormick, Sr. who preceded her in death on April 15, 2003 after 62 years of marriage.



Mrs. McCormick was a Switch Board Operator at McNairy County General Hospital. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Ramer, Tennessee. She was a Woodmen of the World member. Mrs. McCormick loved sewing, gardening, and family reunions. She loved reading her Bible and visiting with her friends. She departed this life on February 27, 2011 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 89 Years, 3 Months, 12 Days.



She is survived by a son, Rex Leon McCormick, Jr. and wife Ione of Mason, TN; five grandchildren, Rhonda Smith and husband Bob of Selmer, TN, Debbie Walker and husband Clark of Pickwick Dam, TN, Billy McCormick and fiance Cathy Rankins of Selmer, TN, Jeff McCormick of Jackson, TN, Regina Brewer of Jackson, TN; seven great grandchildren, Freddy Culver, Andrew McCormick, Joshua Brewer, Ashley Brewer, Brittany Brewer, Cody McCormick, Tyler McCormick; four sisters, Euline Roberts and husband Everette of Kingwood, TX, Mildred Camburn and husband Tindell of Olive Branch, MS, Gladys Henley and husband Byron of Somerville, TN, Margaret Hensley (Late husband Paul) of Hessville, IN; three brothers, Byron Black and wife Helen of Hickory Valley, TN, Charles Black and wife Doris of Crown Point, IN, Wilbert Black (Late wife Virginia) of Germantown, TN; a brother-in-law, Billy McCormick of Ft. Worth, TX; several nieces and nephews. A host of extended family and friends.



In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McCormick was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Elvin and Elizabeth Black; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Meryl and Dean Ward.
