Doris Jean Skinner Beckham

d. May 29, 2017

Doris Jean Skinner Beckham was born March 23, 1929 in Henderson, TN, the daughter of the late William Make and Margie Novella Guinn Skinner. In Doris’s early years, her father’s job in the timber industry allowed her family to move to many places around Tennessee. In May of 1940 the Skinners settled in Clifton, TN. The Skinner family opened Skinner’s 5 & 10 adjacent to the Russ Hotel. After a few years, the family moved the store across the street to a new more spacious location. Doris was a graduate of the Frank Hughes School class of 1947. After graduation, Doris attended and graduated from Draughons Business College in Nashville, TN. Just a few short years later, Doris’s mom, Mrs. Margie, became ill and required round the clock care. Doris worked, both full time running the family store and taking care of her ailing mother. Over the 40 years Doris ran the 5 & 10, she employed numerous individuals from the Clifton community. After the stores closing in 1988, Doris worked part-time for Willoughby Drugs and the Dollar General Store. As a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, Doris served the Lord tirelessly by volunteering her time and service.

On September 24, 1950 Doris was married to the late Billy G. Beckham. Doris is survived by her children daughter Denise Beckham Lineberry, husband Timmy, Christopher Lynn Beckham, wife Rhonda all of Clifton, TN, grandchildren Chris (Moe) Lineberry, wife Chrystal, Brandi Guinn Lineberry Prater, husband Nick, Taylor Anne Beckham, William Carson Beckham, great grandchildren Lynze Templeton, husband Adam, Weston Cole Lineberry, Noah Scott Prater, and Lucas Glen Prater, two great-great grandchildren Jaxx Madden Templeton and AveriKate Elizabeth Templeton.
