Doris Evelyn Lackey

Doris Evelyn Lackey was born on September 29, 1925 in Olive Hill, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William Hiram Omby and Mary Walker White Smith.

On March 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kendrick Lackey, who preceded his wife in death on April 30, 1995.

Doris worked at the Defense Plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee.

Doris Evelyn Lackey departed this life on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 99 years, 11 months, and 25 days.

She is survived by her sons, Barry Kent Lackey and Joseph Mark Lackey; grandchildren, Ryan Lackey, Patrick (Lechelle) Lackey, Clif (Chelsea) Lackey, and Kristen (Ben) Axline; and great grandchildren, Emma Lackey, Kendrick Lackey, Ava Lackey, Lakelyn Lackey, Loren Axline, Quinn Axline, Ivy Jayne Axline, and Sutton Lackey.

In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Gary Allen Lackey; brothers, Harold Smith, Clifford Smith, Bob Smith, and Gideon Smith; and sister, Betty Ann Reed.
