Doris McDaniel

Doris McDaniel, 78, of Bolivar, departed this life Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Bolivar General Hospital.

The wife of Bill McDaniel, who survives, she was retired as an elementary school teacher, having worked at Middleton Elementary and Bolivar Elementary Schools. She was born Thursday, July 1, 1943, in Somerville, daughter of the late Claude E. Blalock and Pauline Hailey Blalock and lived in Hardeman County for 52 years. She married Bill on November 4, 1962, at Whiteville First Baptist Church and together raised their daughters, Lori and Stacy. An avid Duke Blue Devils men's basketball fan, she enjoyed watching and feeding wildlife, especially the birds, reading, cooking, going to the Orpheum and attending all her grandchildren's activities. She was a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church where she continued her teaching as a Sunday School Teacher.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Lori McKinnie (Mike) of Bolivar and Stacy Brunner (Bob) of Nashville; two sisters, Norma Kirk (Bill) of Bolivar and Janice Leonard (Keith) of Bolivar; her grandchildren, whom she adored, Laura McKinnie, Duncan McKinnie (Anna), Kaleb McKinnie (Abbie), Grayson, Meredith and Lydia Brunner; and her great grandchildren, Harris, Wyatt and Russell McKinnie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, T. Vaugn Blalock. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Bolivar First Baptist Church Homebound Children's Ministry or Funeral Meals or Wyatt Cemetery in Hornsby.
