DORIS MCKINNON
Henderson, TN: Doris Jean Bingham McKinnon age 83 passed away May 3, 2020 at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 4, 1936 in Chester County, the daughter of the late William Eugene and Ellen Maurine Griffin Bingham. She grew up in the Wilson School Community of Chester County and was a 1954 graduate of Chester County High School. She married Roy McKinnon on April 28, 1957. They made their home in Henderson all of their sixty-three years together.
She was primarily a homemaker but she did work for Sears in Jackson for several years before moving to the Sears store in Henderson working with her brother Thomas for several years. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, raising flowers and loved hummingbirds.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed participating in the Christmas lighting at Chickasaw State Park. She loved traveling and had visited thirty-seven of the fifty-four State Parks in Tennessee.
Mrs. McKinnon is survived by her husband, Roy Lee McKinnon of Henderson; two sons, Joe McKinnon (Carol) of Bolivar and John William McKinnon (Anna) of Savannah; two daughters, Patricia Rowe (Tom) of Memphis and Andrea Maccarino (Mark) of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Stephen Maccarino (Melissa), Daniel Maccarino (Bella), Joshua Maccarino, Matthew McKinnon (Wendy), Ellen Warner (Wesley), Lauren McKinnon and Ashley Browning (Brady); thirteen great grandchildren and one on the way; Aiden, Landon, Alaina Maccarino, Caleb, John Paul and Anabelle Maccarino, Gunnar McKinnon, Isaac Warner, Brylie, Bentley and Baylor Browning and Camie and Will Warner; two brothers, Jim Bingham (Sue) of LaGrange, GA and Charles Bingham (Linda) of Jackson and a brother-in-law, Phil Arnold of Ashland, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Thomas Bingham (and wife Carolyn) and a sister, Polly Arnold.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Dr. Roger Penn and Bro. Tom Spellings officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue beginning at 10:00 AM on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Trinity United Methodist Church.
