Doris Woods

Doris Walton Parrott Woods was born July 1, 1933 in Gibson County, Tn. the daughter of the late Marshall Doak and Mamie Evelyn Fore Walton. She attended school in Gibson County, and was united in marriage to John Parrott in 1948, Mr. Parrott preceded her in death in 1989. She later married R.A. Woods who died in 1994.
Mrs. Woods worked most of her life as a mother to her children and later became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at the Chester County Nursing Home for several years retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Jacks Creek, Tennessee.

Mrs. Woods departed this life on April 21, 2017 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 83 Years, 9 Months, 20 Days.

She is survived by four daughters, Evelyn Claudette Stanley and husband Thomas Ray of Cordova, TN., Cindy Parrott of Henderson, TN, Cherri Gowdy and companion Bobby Evans of Henderson, TN, Lory Barham and husband Tim of Pinson, TN; two sons, Gary Parrott of Henderson, TN, Michael Anthony Parrott of Engelsbrand, Germany; grandchildren, Tom Stanley Jr., Jason Stanley, Joshua Stanley, John Pearson III, Katherine Nichole Moore, Shane Pearson, Cody Pearson, Ash Bowers, Brandi Bowers, Jeremiah Parrott, Jessica Parrott, Sabrina Parrott, Amanda Mathias, Bud Burkeen, Dylan Barham, Erin Barham, Lauren Taylor; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by two daughters, Johnnie Pearson and Lisa Parrott.

Services will be held on April 24, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors-Johnson Chapel in Henderson, Tennessee, with Dr. James Huggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Browns Cemetery at Jackson, Tennessee.
