Dorothy Gean (Dot) Burks

Dorothy Gean (Dot) Burks was born March 23, 1929 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late James Earl and Mary Lydia Tedford Brown.

She was united in marriage to Charles Burks on November 3, 1951.

Mrs. Burks moved to Gary, Indiana when she was younger and worked for 9 years as a waitress before moving back to McNairy County. She worked in the garment manufacturing industry for several years before retiring. Camping, working in the yard and garden, and canning vegetables were some of Mrs. Burk's favorite activities. She was a member of the church of Christ, having attended the Acton, Shiloh, and Liberty congregations through the years.

Mrs. Burks departed this life on April 14, 2018 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 89 Years, 22 Days. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Burks of Michie, TN; a sister, Rebecca Doles and husband Johnny of Corinth, MS; a brother, Robert Earl Brown and wife Joyce of Guys, TN; a brother-in-law, Alton Burks and wife Linda of Michie, TN; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burks was preceded in death by two sons, Keith Petty and Jackie Petty; three sisters: Juanita Burks, Geneva Moore George, and Patricia Dickerson; and a brother, Billy Neal Brown.
