It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Dorothy Hammons Ehrett, a cherished daughter of Hardeman County, Tennessee, who left us on March 17, 2026, at her home in Pinson, Tennessee. Born on February 21, 1929, Dorothy’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and community spirit.

Dorothy was a beloved figure in Hardeman County where she resided most of her life before moving to Pinson twenty years ago. As a gifted cosmetologist and businesswoman, she owned and operated the Hy-Style Salon located in Hardeman County for over three decades, touching the lives and hearts of many through her skill and kindness.

Beyond her professional life, Dorothy was a woman of many passions. She found joy and peace in her garden, nurturing flowers as she nurtured those around her. Her talents extended to canning, sewing and crocheting, crafts she embraced with patience and love. Dorothy’s generosity blossomed within her church community; as a devoted member of Bemis First Baptist Church, she lovingly crafted comforters for hospice patients, providing warmth and solace to those in need. Her compassionate heart was further shown through her strong support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to her spirit.

Dorothy’s legacy lives on through her family who mourn her deeply while celebrating her life. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Berkley and her husband, Darrell of Pinson, who carry forward their mother’s strength and grace. Her grandchildren, Angela Borden and Clint, Christopher Dell Ehrett and Jessica, Samantha, and Ashley Berkley, along with great-grandchildren Katelann Borden, Calie, Clayton, Octavia Ehrett, and Jacob Berkley, remember her as a source of warmth and unwavering love.

Her ties to family extended warmly to her siblings who remain in Hardeman County: brothers Ray, Marc, and Gene Hammons, and sister, Linda McClure. They, alongside her daughter and grandchildren, keep her memory vibrant and alive in every whispered breeze and blooming flower.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lucian Ivo Hammons and Eldis Park Barnes Hammons; her son, Dell “AppleJack” Ehrett, whose memory she cherished deeply; her brothers Don, Jasper, Roger Wayne Hammons and an infant brother; and her sister Elizabeth Neola Chisolm.

To have known Dorothy was to know a spirit enriched with kindness, resilience, and a joyful heart. As Hardeman County and all who loved her come to terms with her passing, they hold onto the beauty she planted in each life she touched—a garden of grace that time cannot fade. Her passing is a gentle reminder of the enduring power of love, community, and heartfelt dedication. May Dorothy Hammons Ehrett rest in gentle peace, forever remembered, forever missed.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Bemis First Baptist Church "Comforters".
