Dorothy Ferrell Tacker Hardin was born on February 2, 1927 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Homer and Lula Hood Ferrell.
Dorothy worked at Brown Shoe Company for seventeen years. She later worked at Hardin Medical Center as a nurse for twenty nine years. Dorothy was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ and formerly of Clifton Church of Christ.
Dorothy Ferrell Tacker Hardin departed this life on September 24, 2023 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 96 years, 7 months, and 22 days.
She is survived by her daughter, Retta White of Savannah, Tennessee; sons, Harold Tacker of Savannah, Tennessee and James Boyd Tacker (Sandy) of Red Bay, Alabama; sisters, Francis Clement, Nancy Easley, and Barbara Ferrell all of Savannah, Tennessee; brother, Bob Ferrell of Indiana; grandchildren, Mandy Franks, Jennifer Tacker, Brian Tacker, Shanna Tibbs, Karren Kimbel, Tyron Tacker, Brandon Tacker, Jeffrey Umphrey, and Jake Umphrey; eleven great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Tacker and first husband, Bernis Hardin; son, Lloyd Tacker; daughter, Rebecca Umphrey; stepdaughter, Karen McDonald; and brother, D H Ferrell.
