Dorothy Mae Burns Henson

Dorothy Mae Burns Henson of Florence, AL was born July 4, 1930 in Wayne County, TN, the daughter of the late Will and Annie Martin Burns. She was united in marriage to William Henson on December 21, 1956 and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2000.

Mrs. Henson was a homemaker and a member of Hendrix Chapel Church of Christ. She departed this life on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 1 day.

She is survived by daughters, Kathy Benson, husband, Curtis and Diane Roden, husband, Jim, all of Florence, AL; grandsons, Shane Benson (Stacy), Savannah, TN and Marty Benson (Kris) Hixson, TN; granddaughters, Jessica Cox (Wes) of Savannah, TN and Kayla Hooper (Lester) and Ashlee Wilson (Richard) all of Florence, AL; great-grandchildren, Will, Jill, Becca and Xander Benson, Larissa and Kaitlyn Cox, Bailey, Alivia and Zoey Wilson and Alexa, Taven and Lucas Hooper; sister, Anita West, husband, David; brothers, Nolan Burns, wife, Linda, Alfred Burns, wife, Martha, Wayford Burns and Preston Burns and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs Henson was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Brittney Rose Benson, brothers, Clifton and Junior Burns and a sister, Ovie Dale Whitten.

Graveside services will be Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 3 pm at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lutts, TN with Wayne Wood and Nolan Burns officiating and Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family. Pallbearers will be Shane Benson, Will Benson, Marty Benson, Xander Benson, Wes Cox and Lester Hooper.
