Dorothy Jean Simmons Kyle

Nov 2, 1937 — Jun 27, 2026

Dorothy Jean Simmons Kyle was born on November 2, 1937, to the late Hughie and Frances Simmons. She was raised in Olive Hill, TN. In 1954, she was married to Bobby Gene Beckham and they raised their daughters in Clifton, TN where she worked as a Supervisor for Clifton Manufacturing Company. Later in 1988, she married James Paul Kyle. They shared many happy years together until his passing in 2006. She retired & spent the remainder of her days in Savannah, TN.

She enjoyed traveling; especially trips to the beach. She also loved shopping & spending time with her family and friends. As a talented seamstress, she found great joy in sewing for the community. She was also a devoted fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on.

Most importantly, Dorothy loved the Lord and lived her life grounded in her faith. Her love for God was reflected in the kindness, compassion, and unwavering love she showed to those around her. She treasured her family above all else and found her greatest happiness in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories they will cherish forever. Known for her warm heart and welcoming spirit, she was affectionately known by many—not just her own family—as "GrandMother," a name that reflected the love, comfort, and wisdom she shared with everyone whose lives she touched.

Dorothy Jean Simmons Kyle departed this life on June 27, 2026, in Jackson, TN at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 25 days.

She leaves behind her daughters; Judy Stanfill (Ronnie) of Lexington, TN and Wanda Ross (Roy) of Florence, AL; her brother, Jamie Simmons (Joyce) of Clifton, TN; her grandchildren; Stephen Stanfill, Stephanie Cagle (Jerrod), Seth Stanfill (Jesse) all of Lexington, TN; Eric Ross (Jenilee) and Nicholas Ross (Amanda) of Florence, AL; and her beloved great-grandchildren; Colby Cagle (fiancée, Hailee Jones), Shae Stanfill, Spence Stanfill, Carly Cagle, Anabeth Stanfill, Carson Cagle, Cayson Cagle, Sadie Stanfill, Sage Stanfill, Andrew Ross, Adalynn Ross, Olivia Ross, and Noah Ross; and a host of nieces and nephews that she was close to. In addition to her parents and her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, W.H. Simmons; her grandson, Justin Andrew Ross; her great-great grandson, Graham Thomas Cagle; and the father of her children, Bobby Gene Beckham.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that she has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior, whom she faithfully loved throughout her life. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, kindness, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
