Mrs. Howell passed from this life on Tuesday morning, October 19, 2021 at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, TN.
She was born in Saulsbury to the late Robert William and Bertha Louise Hammons Bryant. Except for five years in Mississippi, she lived her entire life in Hardeman County.
Mrs. Howell was united in marriage to Paul Howell on December 27, 1945. Mr. Howell died November 15, 1999 after nearly 54 years of marriage. A member of the Shandy Baptist Church, she enjoyed quilting, plants, puzzles and time spent with her children. A 1945 graduate of Grand Junction High School, she continued to regularly attend class reunions up until the 1990's.
She retired in 1989 from Western Mental Health Institute where she worked in housekeeping. She also was employed at Hardeman Garment for 5-6 years. However, it was her work as a mother to her nine children she enjoyed the most.
She leaves 8 surviving children, Richard Howell of Millington, Frank Howell (Therese) of Collierville, Sandra Florek (Jeff) or Channahon, IL, Terry Howell (Susan) of Eads, Jeff Howell (Debbie) of Southaven, MS, Carol Cummins of Middleton, Brenda Sisco (Larry), also of Middleton and Bobby Howell of Bolivar; one sister, Linda Fay Holloway (Ricky) of Pocahontas; one brother, Robert Hayes Bryant (Kay) of Bolivar; 26 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bill Howell; two daughters-in-law, Susie Howell and Pam Howell; a son-in-law, Frankie Osborne; and a grandson, Michael Cook.
