Dorothy Louise Mullins, affectionately known as "Mama Lucy," was born on December 22, 1938, in Ramer, Tennessee, to the late Lester and Carrie Sweatman Smith. A graduate of Ramer High School, class of 1957, Dorothy went on to create a life filled with love and devotion.
On November 29, 1957, she found her partner in life, Donald D. Mullins, with whom she shared countless cherished memories until his passing on May 16, 2020. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond that was evident to all who knew them.
Dorothy was a devoted member of the Ramer Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a place where she nurtured her faith and community. Known for her kindness, she poured her heart into caring for her family, friends, and neighbors. She had a gift for cooking, often found in the kitchen preparing delightful meals, and loved tackling crossword puzzles in her leisure time. She cherished her zero candy bars and Coca-Cola, brightening her days with simple pleasures.
Her professional life included a dedicated tenure as a secretary for Manuel Brothers Construction Company, where she and Donald worked for 40 years. Their careers took them across the United States and Canada, including a noteworthy achievement where Donald laid the first fiber optic cable for AT&T. Dorothy also worked at the Brown Shoe Company.
Mrs. Mullins departed this life on May 11, 2025, at the home of her son in Middleburg, Florida, at the age of 86 years, 4 months, and 19 days. She is survived by her son, Jeff Mullins and wife Penny; brother, Dale Smith; three grandchildren, Kim Smith, Stacy Spry and husband Clifford, Brian Mullins and wife Carrie; six great-grandchildren, Marlee, Kinlee, Jacob, Samantha, Kaylah, and Savannah; as well as three great-great-grandchildren, Kendall, MK, and Rue; alongside a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Moore; two sisters, Estelle Ayers and Sharon Hartness; two brothers, Gerald and Larry Smith.
As we remember Mama Lucy, we celebrate the warmth she brought to our lives and the indelible mark she leaves on our hearts. Her spirit will forever be a source of inspiration and affection for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
