Dorothy Payne

Dorothy Payne was born on January 1, 1943 in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Clay H. and Catherine Donaldson Swarner.

Dorothy was known as "Ma" to many. Before retiring, she was a workaholic, spending most of her time at Rick's Quick Pick. She enjoyed making sure everyone had a hot biscuit. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren and sitting on the porch feeding the birds.

Dorothy Payne departed this life on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 24 days.

She is survived by her daughters, Marcy Kiddy and Melody Bandy, both of Savannah, Tennessee; brothers, Roy Swarner, Clarence Swarner, Robert Swarner, Samuel Swarner, and John Swarner; grandchildren, Matt Kiddy, Morgan Payne, Megan Payne, Mark Kiddy, Mallorie Holcombe, McKenzie Duke, and Madison Payne; and great grandchildren, Kaiden, Carley, Jaxon, Serenity, Kali, Camryn, Kasi, Creasy, Chloe, Addie, Trevor, Sadie, Atlas, and Micah.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Payne; brothers, Charles Swarner and Ralph Swarner; and sisters, Mary Weibley, Zola Mae Snyder, and Helen Crist.
