Mrs. Wheeler passed away around noon Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at NHC Health Care in Lawrenceburg.
The widow of James Franklin Wheeler, who died on January 11, 2000, she worked as an aid with Western Mental Health Institute in Bolivar. She was born May 20, 1927, in Lawrenceburg to Tom and Mae Belle Miller Johnson. She moved to Saulsbury and surrounding areas with her husband in 1946 and lived in Lawrenceburg since 2007. She worked for a time as a seamstress in Walnut, Miss. Her family stated that she 'always helped older people whom she dearly loved.' Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Faye Commander of Waterford, Michigan; a sister, Willie Mae Sandrell and her husband Carl of Lawrenceburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins whom she cared deeply for. In addition to her husband, whom she married on March 25, 1946, and her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, James Franklin Wheeler, Jr; a brother, Clyde J. Boling; and a sister, Helen Jean Phillips.
