Dorthy Jo Jarnagin, age 87, died peacefully on June 28, 2023 in Selmer, TN.
Dorthy Jo was born on June 12, 1936 in Ramer, Tennessee to the late Gilbert Elihugh and Dorothy Kirk Kennedy.
Dorthy Jo married her husband of sixty-six years, Charles David Jarnagin, Sr in Corinth, MS on August 2, 1954. Dorthy Jo and Charles made their home in Ramer and Selmer before settling in the Eastview Community. During her life, she worked at Brown Shoe Company, McNairy County Board of Education as a school bus driver, and managed several local restaurants.
Dorthy Jo was the mother of Sherry Jo Jarnagin Smith (Kenny) of Humboldt, Charlotte Kaye Jarnagin Warren (Eddy) of Selmer, and Charles "Chuck" David Jarnagin, Jr (Faye) of Selmer.
She was the grandmother of Eddy Gene Warren Jr. of Selmer, Jamie Warren Lancaster (Sandy) of Guys, Jeanie Warren of Ramer, Terri Smith Crider (Chris) of Jackson, Sonja Dixon (Greg) of Walnut, MS.
She was the great-grandmother to Hunter Warren Justice of Ramer, Jack Charles Crider and Mary Margaret Crider both of Jackson, Archer Chisum Lancaster and Eowyn Leigh Lancaster both of Guys, Savannah Grace Dixon and Dani Paige Dixon both of Walnut, MS. Dorthy Jo was also the great-great-grandmother to Beaux Hudson Barnett of Walnut, MS.
Along with her husband and family, they enjoyed camping in the Smoky Mountains. She was an avid collector of arrowheads and unique rocks.
She was a member of Mount Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ramer, TN.
Dorthy Jo was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Jayne Alice Lipford and a brother, John Gilbert Kennedy. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild as well as a sister, Madie Sue Coln of Cordova, TN, and a host of extended family and friends.
