Dougal Dee McFall passed away peacefully April 23, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. McFall was born February 2, 1923 in Wayne County, Tennessee. He loved God and was a devout Christian. He faithfully attended Johnson Chapel Baptist Church every Sunday, where he loved to hear the Word and the beautiful singing.
He was a kind, gentle man that never met a stranger and never failed to positively impact all those with whom he came in contact. Remarkably, through 94 years, he never lost his sense of humor or his infectious smile.
He spent his life in Wayne County, Tennessee, except when he answered the call to serve during World War II. He was a proud member of the Army Air Corps, serving overseas from January 1943 to January 1946. He took great pride in his country and was a true patriot. He was a famer most of his adult life. At age 65, he started Mid Tenn Turf of Manchester, Tennessee, along with his daughter and later started Volunteer Sod of Lutts, Tennessee with his son. He retired at the age of 80 to take care of his sick wife.
Mr. McFall was an intelligent man who had a thirst for knowledge. He was constantly reading and learning until his eyesight began to fail him. He loved his family unconditionally and took great pride in them. He was married to Mary Walter Austin for 63 years until her death in 2009. He was devoted to her and remained so for the remainder of his life. His children entered various professions and occupations, but all carried with them a love of learning and an eagerness to work hard in all of their endeavors. The values instilled in each of them came not as a result of what their father told them, but by watching their father, who embodied those values.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. McFall and his mother, Ola W. McFall; his wife, Mary Walter McFall; and his son, Robin McFall.
He is survived by seven (7) children, Donny D. McFall and wife, Rebecca, (deceased), Johnny S. McFall and wife, Debbie of Florence, AL, Dr. Danny Wayne McFall and wife, Regina of Florence, AL, Patsy Ann McFall Wilkinson and husband, Robert of Oak Ridge, TN, Marilyn June McFall Howard and husband, Allan of Manchester, TN, Dougal Mark McFall and wife, Sheila of Lutts, TN, Gary Lynn McFall and wife, Lisa of Brentwood, TN and daughter-in-law, Jackie McFall of Columbia, TN.
