Douglas Henry Prather

Douglas Henry Prather was born April 6, 1921 in Ramer, Tennessee the son of the late L. P. and Mary Ethel Petree Prather.He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Stilling on July 26, 1945. Mrs. Prather passed away on October 8, 1990. Mr. Prather remarried Mary E. Roussin on August 6, 1993, she passed away on May 30, 2005.Mr. Prather was a retired construction superintendent, he worked for Shelby Skipwith in Memphis, TN . He was a member of the Unity Baptist church in Ramer, Tennessee and served in the United States Coast Guard as an American merchant marine during World War II.Mr. Prather departed this life on October 2, 2009 in Union City, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 5 Months, 26 Days. He is survived by three daughters, Susan Parks and husband Randy of Oxford, KS, Kathy Van Stavern and husband Russ of Tulsa, OK, and Judy Prather of Savannah, TN; three sons, Richard Prather and wife Pam of Corinth, MS, James (J.P.) Prather and wife Terri of Union City, TN, and Paul D. Prather of Memphis, TN; two sisters, Betty Miller of Idyllwild, CA, Carolyn Crowe of Coeur d Alene, ID; 11 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren.In addition to his parents, Mr. Prather was preceded in death by a sister, Nolita Prather; a brother, Ed Prather.
