Douglas Winslow Treece

March 21, 1942 — July 16, 2020

Douglas Winslow Treece was born March 21, 1942 in Leapwood, TN the son of the late Clyde Sherman and Inez Harris Treece.

He was united in marriage to Gwelda West on August 15, 1964.

Mr. Treece was a 1960 graduate of Adamsville High School. He attended college and technical schools and obtained certifications in heating and air conditioning. Mr. Treece owned and operated Action Air Conditioning in Shreveport, LA for many years before retiring and moving back to McNairy County. Playing golf and traveling with his wife and friends were some of his favorite pastimes; on occasion they would take a cruise together or a road trip. Mr. Treece loved driving, but was not always successful at avoiding speeding tickets. He enjoyed fixing everything and made it his mission to ensure his family wasn't "shabby." Mr. Treece was a member of the Selmer Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and the Al Chymia Shrine Temple in Memphis. He was a faithful member of Court Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Selmer, having served as an Elder. He also participated in the "Food For the Soul" program, delivering weekly meals to shut-ins and the disadvantaged.

Mr. Treece departed this life on July 16, 2020 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 78 Years, 3 Months, 25 Days. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gwelda (West) Treece of Selmer, TN; a son, William Sherman Treece of Memphis, TN; a daughter, Jana Gail Treece of Shreveport, LA; two grandchildren, William Chance Walsh and Douglas Gray Walsh; a sister, Jelva Brooks of Memphis, TN; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Treece was preceded in death by four brothers: Doyle Treece, Darrell Treece, Darwin Treece, and Hoyt Treece.
