DOYLE ARMOUR
Henderson, TN: Doyle Loverne Armour age 90 passed away Sunday evening September 20, 2015 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born January 22, 1925 in New Madrid, MO and grew up in Chester County, the son of the late William Finley and Lora Garner Armour. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1943 and entered the U.S. Navy and served during WWII from 1943 until 1946 aboard the USS LST 699 as a signalman. He married Carolyn Russom in 1947. He was in the Navy Reserve from 1950 until 1952 when he was recalled for the Korean War and served as a Quartermaster.
He worked as shipping foreman at Salant & Salant Mfg. for 33 years and later worked 11 years as superintendent at the Chester County Jail until his retirement in 1994.
He was treasurer and deacon at Sanford Hill Baptist Church and served on the original committee for starting the mission church at Sanford Hill.
Mr. Armour is survived by his wife, Carolyn Faye Russom Armour of Henderson; two sons, Mike Armour and wife Jackie of Henderson and Greg Armour and wife Debbie of Jackson; two daughters, Angie Bryan and husband Glenn of Henderson and Ginger McPherson and husband Scott of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Anna Armour Leath, Michael Armour, Amy Armour Egbert, Bliss McEarl, Brooke McEarl Thomas, Blair McEarl, Anna Shae McPherson Price and Collin McPherson and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Velt Armour and Pat Armour and five sisters, Mosell Peoples, Jewell Gurley, Robbie Hearn, Hazel Luckey and Martha Morrison.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Glenn Harris and Mac Luckey officiating and burial will follow with Military Honors in Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
