Dudley "Daddy Dud" Richard was born on January 9, 1911 in McNairy County, TN the son of Eugene Franklin Richard and Minnie Pearl Moore Richard. He was united in marriage to MaiDel English on May 5, 1934. Mrs. Richard preceded him in death on February 4, 1998. Mr. Richard was a longtime General Contractor. He was a charter member of Eastview Baptist Church, the Eastview Ruritan Club, the Selmer Rotary Club, and a Free and Accepted Mason of the Corinth Lodge. He authored the book "The Yarns and the Cloth" an Unorthodox History of A Place and It's People. He was well known for his blueberries, his buckdancing, and his bowling, having bowled on his 100th birthday.
Mr. Richard departed this life on Friday, July 1, 2011 at his home in the Eastview community at the age of 100 years, 5 months, and 22 days. His life was full, joyful, and dedicated, not only to his family but also to his community.
He is survived by four daughters, Doris Sutton and husband Burl of Ramer, TN, Sandra Scott and husband Ray of Ramer, TN, Marbary Del Segars of Ramer, TN, Quinnie Bell and husband Ron of Selmer, TN; four sons, Don Rayburn Richard and wife Marjorie of Jackson, TN, David Richard and wife Kathy of Selmer, TN, Steve Richard and wife Sandi of Selmer, TN, John Richard and companion Diane Carlin of Ramer, TN; a sister, Laura Griffin of Ramer, TN; a daughter-in-law, Libby Jo Richard; a son-in-law, Dan Ingram; two sisters-in-law, Tommy Leonhard and Jean Richard; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren. A host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Richard was preceded in death by a daughter, Gene Ingram on June 16, 2011; a son, Mike Richard on June 2, 2010; a son-in-law, Johnny Joe Segars on May 1, 2011; a grandchild, Mark Ingram on June 6, 2006; a sister, Thelma Richard Prather; three brothers, Fred, Billy, and Jack Richard.
