E. W. McKinnie, a revered Real Estate Broker and appraiser known for his successful operation of Hatchie Auction and Real Estate, peacefully passed away in Jackson, Tennessee on April 24, 2024. Born on January 28, 1938, in Hardeman County, Tennessee, E. W. McKinnie's impact extended far beyond his professional career.
Having graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1955 and pursued further education at UT Martin for two years, E. W. McKinnie showcased a commitment to learning and growth throughout his life. His passion for real estate was only rivaled by his love for activities such as cheering on the University of Tennessee football team and watching thrilling NASCAR races, with Talladega being a favored track. In his earlier years, he found joy in duck hunting—a pastime that brought him closer to nature.
A man of unwavering faith and community spirit, E. W. McKinnie dedicated himself to the service of Englewood Baptist in Jackson in recent years while maintaining a long-standing connection to Bolivar First Baptist Church, where he had been an active member for the majority of his life.
In the hearts of those who survive him, E. W. McKinnie leaves behind a legacy cherished by many. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cheri McKinnie of Jackson; daughters, Sheila Richerson & Raymond of Jackson and Sherry Herriman and Steve of Bolivar; stepdaughter, Angela Goodman of Bolivar; sister, Naomi Pyles of Jackson; brother, Dennis McKinnie of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Matt Herriman and Morgan of Murfreesboro, Brent Herriman and Ashton of Murfreesboro, Rachel Kelly and J.C. of Jackson, Barrett Richerson and Bethany of Medina; step-grandchildren Shelby Cook and Tyler of Somerville, Eric O'Neal of Bolivar, Grayson O'Neal and Breanna of Cookeville; as well as 13 Great Grandchildren who brought immense joy into his life.
E. W. McKinnie is preceded in death by his father, William Alton McKinnie and mother, Eula Daphney Conrad McKinnie, his sister, Becky Collins and, a stepson, Anthony O'Neal.
