Born on July 24, 2008, in Selmer, TN, Easton James Lee Winters was destined to be a legend—and by legend, we mean the kind that leaves trails of mismatched socks and half-eaten cereal behind him. He was the son of Autumn Johnson Winters and the late Derrick Gregory Winters, and from a diaper-clad adventurer to a teenage sensation, Easton brought chaos and joy to everyone who crossed his path.
As a toddler, Easton was a master escapologist. Just when you thought he was safely playing with his toys, he’d be off on an entirely new adventure, often in just a diaper and a pacifier. Who knew the search for a child could sometimes rival a treasure hunt? He had an impressive catalogue of escapades that often left family members wondering if they needed to hire a professional tracker.
Easton had a remarkable talent for spreading joy and weirdness in equal measure. Not only was he the family’s goofball, but he also boasted a dry sense of humor that could make a cactus burst into laughter. Easton never failed to find the light in every situation. Whether he was fixing something or spectacularly breaking it, he always brought a unique charm to everything he touched. A roller-skating master and the youngest of the family, he could glide through life while consistently reminding everyone he was there!
His driving skills? Let’s just say they were “creative.” Easton had quite the reputation on the road—if we could tally up how many “almost felons” he created behind the wheel, the numbers might perplex even the most experienced statisticians (and likely raise some eyebrows). Those lucky enough to know him accepted that phone calls from Easton would often come in floods while he was notorious for leaving others hanging.
A proud redneck connoisseur, Easton’s love for spontaneous cooking led to a plethora of tasty yet questionable concoctions. His culinary masterpieces included questionable raided pantry dishes that would often earn a thumbs-up even from the harshest critics (his family). And let’s not forget his curly mullet that could easily win awards and deserved its own social media page; Paired with a deep bass voice that could impersonate anything from an opera singer to Kermit the Frog- his unique vocal impersonations and his laugh that sounded suspiciously like a little girl but with a manly bass, he was a force to be reckoned with.
Rumor has it that Easton had an imaginary friend named Jon (John) Mickey, who lived from 1845 to 1910 and a Civil War soldier. Together, they fought battles in backyards and made history, one adventure at a time. One can only imagine the shenanigans these two are conjuring up together now, probably laughing at all of us left behind.
Easton departed this world on December 18, 2025, at the age of 17 years, 4 months, and 24 days. He leaves behind his mother, Autumn Johnson Winters of Selmer, TN; two sisters, Katie Winters and fiancé Will Jones and Victoria Winters all of Selmer, TN; loving grandparents, Dorothy Winters of Ramer, TN, Bobby and Debra Johnson of Selmer, TN ; aunt, Chasity Churchwell and husband Philip of Selmer, TN; cousins, Elizabeth Redmon and husband Tyler, Brooklyn Jowers and husband Zach, Lucas Martin who was more like a brother; special friends, Caleb Haenitsch, William Marsh, Rylan Hadley, Hayden Byrd and of course, Jon Mickey.
Preceded in death by his father, Derrick and grandfather, Jimmy Winters.
Easton’s spirit will continue to resonate in the stories shared and the laughter that follows. So, here's to Easton James Lee Winters—an unforgettable mix of laughter, love, and a bit of mischief.
